Photography by Frank R. Gorga

About me...
I am a biochemist and professor by vocation and a photographer by avocation.

My interest in photography began with a course in high school over thirty years ago. Given competing demands of family and career, this interest lay more-or-less dormant except for the usual family snapshots until few years ago.

The rekindling of my active interest in photography was slow but the pace increased dramatically in March of 2004 when I purchased my first digital camera, a Nikon D70. The absence of cost associated with triggering the shutter associated with digital cameras was liberating! The instantaneous feedback provided was enlightening. Both factors led to an increase in photographic risk-taking which has led to better images.

I spend as much time as possible (given all of the other competing demands for time) taking photographs. My natural interests with regard to subjects lie in the area of wildlife (especially birds) and landscapes, but I try to keep a broad horizon in this respect.

My wife and I live in southeastern Massachusetts and have a "camp" in southern New Hampshire. Thus, many of my photographs show subjects from the southern New England coast line (mainly Rhode Island east to Cape Cod) and the woods and lakes of New Hampshire. Although, I do try to take photographs wherever our travels take us.
